Anyone who has ever ventured into the stock market would have gotten to know by now that the index can go up and down on any given date. That gyration can actually help you make good returns on the stock market.

For the beginners in the stock market game this movement of the stock market is commonly known as stock market volatility. The reasons for the movement of the index or the individual stocks can be varied. These can be some political factors coming into play or the large macro economic factors. A lot industry specific factor can cause the stock to move up or down.

A lot of stock market traders take advantage of this movement of stocks to make money. The traders who use the day trading method will always be using their software to track which stock is showing what trend and will usually pounce on the stock which is showing upward trend during the day. They will usually sell before the end of the day and make a killing.

Then there are people who believe in the fundamental strength of the stock and will buy the stock at any cost but yes given the volatility they will actually buy more of the good stocks given its long term potential.

As a small investor most people do not have enough money to adopt a particular strategy or make bold moves. That is where some of the bets principles of the stock market can come to your help. So make sure that when you start investing in the market you should focus on only a few stocks.

Also make sure that you adopt a framework to sell particular stocks when you hit a particular amount of target for profit on a particular stock. That will then free up your money for future investments. Also make sure to keep tab on the stock movements as that will help you curb your losses. So the bets way is to have a stop loss on each stock so that you do not lose too much should the stock market volatility goes on too much or the market goes into a total slide.

Of course if you have enough money to play with then your best bet is to invest at every dip in the stock market and keep accumulating good stocks for their long term potential.
Otherwise you can go in for a systematic investment plan for buying stocks as that will help average out your holding cost.

"Many investors achieve this, (including me). Very few "traders" come anywhere close to that, and though a few make good money, the majority loose their money and slink away very quietly!"

The majority lose their money and sink away. So what do the majority do that make them fail on the stock market? Any links to websites or articles/advice of what not to do wrong when investing in stocks?

Stock Market For Dummies/ Stock Market Basics

Some conventional wisdom you’ll often hear from financial planners and investment counselors is: You don’t get rich quickly — you get rich slowly, over time. So why are so many people turning to day trading as a way to get rich quickly? Is day trading really a way to turn a few dollars into a small fortune?

If done properly and with the right Mentor like Apextrading then YES Day Trading Is Way To Turn A Few Dollars Into A Small Fortune.

Day traders are some of the quickest-thinking and fastest-acting traders in the world.

let’s be clear about what day trading isn’t. It’s not investing, which is the process of buying a stake in an asset that will hopefully build a profit over the long term. How long is subjective, but investors generally hold assets for years, even decades. And they’re usually concerned with the businesses they invest in. They look for companies that make solid profits, pay off debts in a timely manner, have a strong pipeline of products and avoid litigation.

Day trading, on the other hand, involves buying and selling securities within the same day. Day Traders look for specific set-ups that occur Day after Day and exploit those set-ups for profit. Day traders often use borrowed money to take advantage of small price movements in highly liquid stocks or indexes.

The stock market is a volatile animal but one you can tame if you want to. Millions of people have found their fortune on the market and even more have lost one or two, but in most cases this is because of poor strategy.

Setting some guidelines to stick to is a great place to start when you are trying to build a stock portfolio. The trick is to plan smart. Read as much as you can about latest trends and stock market basics. Then you can see what others did that make them money, from there you can set up your own rules to follow, rules that include the amount of money you want to put into the stock market. Stick to these rules and you are much more likely to see success in stocks.

For a good and versatile portfolio try to keep things spread out nice and evenly. This means no putting all of your eggs in one basket. Keep no more than 3 percent of your portfolio in any one stock. This is a simple rule that you can use to keep from losing your shirt in the stock market.

The better you spread the money over the stock market the better you spread the risk as well. When stocks dip you will be risking so little of your overall stock wealth that you will not need to panic.

Every smart trader has a line that they do not cross. This means not watching stocks go down and down just hoping and waiting for them to rise again. You must set a point at which you will sell. Pick a percentage and make a rule that says no matter what the stock is, if it gets to that point it is time to sell. You may take a hit now and then, but you will prevent losing everything you put into that particular investment. Too many stocks never recover and you do not want to find yourself having to deal with that time and time again. A loss of 15 percent is a good place to cut and run.

Never be afraid of success. Do you know how many people sell when things are looking good just out of fear that the bottom will fall out? It is a far better idea to take a bit of a risk and stay with the stock a little longer. Put your ear to the ground and do not get led astray by restless rumblings. This is how you will make the real money.

And when it comes to the stock market you must realize that the learning never stops. Because the stock market is always changing so must you. You need to be able to ride with the waves of the stock market if you want to be really successful with it. This means accepting losses and being willing to win big. Stocks are not for everyone but for those who have a passion for the game it can be well worth it in the long run. Just set your rules and guidelines early and stick to them come rain or shine.

The penny stock market is vicious, lucrative, and captivating. The draw for first-time buyers is usually their price, which typically runs well below $5 per share. This financial fluidity means that not only do penny stocks sell OTC (outside of the NASDAQ and similar arenas), but they also trade at lightning speeds. Still, savvy investors can make a pretty penny—no pun intended—if they know what is going on.

The penny stock market has certain rules. When approaching your first penny stock deal, a red flag should go up if the following conventions are not observed: before brokers, or more commonly dealers, can sell a stock, it must approve the customer (you) and get from you a written statement consenting to the transaction in question. They are then required to provide you with concrete documentation that notifies you of the risks associated with trading in penny stocks, after which they must outline the details of the trade.

This includes the market value of each share, the company will gain from the transaction, which is ready to share any broker involved, and so on. Once your account is created, the company is obliged to show the exact market value of each share in your account by sending you monthly statements. If all these measures are in order and the trade goes well, you are free to proceed with confidence.

Penny stocks are those that have great potential to earn a great return on investment with so little comment. This makes it the favorite of all time stock traders, including those who are new to the stock exchange games. It is not surprising even veteran stock traders find the time to invest in penny stocks returns. But not all penny stocks can lead to huge returns on investment, if any at all. In fact, many penny stocks on the market are placed there simply as fraudulent stocks, traders deceive gullible to believe he has done a good deal, when in fact it is buying a bouquet of value stocks.

Contrary to public opinion, to learn how to select penny stocks is not exactly a difficult thing. In fact, it is quite simple that novices easily blow it. The first thing you should probably see a penny stock site. You will find hundreds of resources for choosing penny stocks just by searching the Internet.

The problem is that most of these Web resources require membership; some require a certain amount of the contribution. Fortunately, the taxes that are required are usually minimal, and that the value you can get information, there will certainly exceed what you paid for membership. But you must always be careful when seeking advice penny stock. Just because you find all sorts of information on the Internet does not necessarily mean that all this is true. There are fake sites that are created specifically to draw attention to some penny stocks that are currently on offer, in truth and in fact, nothing.

For this reason, you should also consult a veteran in the stock market. He must know the advantages and disadvantages of penny stock trading and should be able to give advice on the experience and practical knowledge.

Beginner traders often fantasize or wonder about how some people are able to achieve tremendous profits by trading stocks just a few hours on a daily or weekly basis.

So going farther than the hype & the bells and whistles that a lot of the called “trading gurus” like to invoke, the real “secrets” of the stock market game are enclosed within the trading set ups and market signals you rely on to decide how to CHOOSE stocks, as well as WHEN to BUY & when to SELL them, or even when to SHORT SELL those that are poised for a profitable fall.

So the clearer your set ups are, the faster you can spot a potentially profitable trading scenario and ACT ON IT reducing your risk.

Complicated technical systems and information overload can make you slow and confuse you right from the start, making you loose money instead of making your profits grow.

In essence, You can be sure that the trading method you employ to approach the stock market and pick stocks can make a big difference in your results as a trader. In order to succeed you will need to FOCUS on a set of simple trading strategies that you can implement without hesitation.

 Deep into Stock Market Quotes

“You’re neither right nor wrong because other people agree with you. You’re right because your facts are right and your reasoning is right-and that’s the only thing that makes you right.” -Warren Buffett

It comes as a surprise that one of the oldest and the most rewarding of modern day enterprises have been investing in the stock market. Trading in the stock market lures many able-minded investors every day and every one comes in with the dream of making his/her fortune in the economy defining market of any country. Scores of books have been written on successful trading in this field and valuable experience has been passed over many generations of leading investors. The most important thing to remember while dealing with the ups and downs of the stock market is that the investor must get his facts in the right place and not be easily moved by the opinion of others. It is very easy to lose the right direction and become prey to ill advice. You must have confidence in your decisions and stick to the research done before investing in any venture in the stock market. It is true that the market is always in a state of flux and you will be tempted to do what others are most ardently following but this might bring serious downfalls to your trade if the same people had speculated wrongly.

While researching for the stock you wish to invest in, it is advisable to consult a professional firm for your information. A wide range of tools are available on the Internet with many financial sites offering the right facts and advices. It is a great exercise for the right investment and will surely reap you benefits in the long run. We must be sure of the decision we are taking and we must carry out extensive research of the quotes before taking the final plunge. Stock Market Quotes give us a fair idea of the feasibility of a particular stock being profitable in the future. By studying the trend carefully, you will surely be able to come up with a plan to gain the most out of a deal.

The Stock Market is the place where you and I can materialize our dreams and we must make the smart choice of researching the stocks and reviewing their quotes to optimize the result. Stock Market quotes are a mirror of the net worth of an investment and they usually help us in taking the right decision. By keeping these points in mind we can be rest assured that our hard earned money will not be under the blanket of high risk. You must also make sure that you are actually interested in the stock you wish to invest in as you will be naturally inclined to get more information about that particular stock leading to a better research. With a number of investment options in store for us today, the Stock Market is nearer to the realization of our dreams than ever before so we must grab the opportunity now and make our fortune as soon as possible.

When you first start investing in the stock market you often feel as though you need a guide for stock market investing for dummies, but if you follow a few investing basics, it’s not all that difficult. Stock market investing is nothing more than buying a small share of a business. With that in mind, it gives you a few investing strategies.

Stock market investing for dummies is a misnomer because everyone shops, eats, drives a car or watches the media. You already have an idea of investing strategies if you know a little bit about the products that you use on a daily basis. If you saw a company that offered neat new technology, you might buy the product, or, even better, buy a share of stock in that company. If this was March of 1986 and the company was Microsoft, one share would cost you about $25.00. Now fast forward that to the present time. The shares of Microsoft sell for around $26. You probably think that the investment is awful. Well, instead of one share, you now own 576 shares because the stock split so many times. Along the way you also received over $4.00 per share from dividends, this was after the splits took place. Had you reinvested that money you would have an additional 92 shares. Therefore, at this point, your single share of stock grew to a value over $16,000. That is not stock market investing for dummies, that’s a buy and hold investing strategy.

Buy and hold is one strategy for stock market investing. The problem with buy and hold is that you need to know which company to buy and hold and which company to release because it’s a dog. Krispie Kreme donuts went public in the year 2000 and everyone went crazy for the IPO (Initial Public Offering or when the stock first goes public.). This is quite typical. The price skyrockets and then often drops like a rock, particularly when the company is a craze. Donuts are good, and theirs are particularly tantalizing, but once the donuts saturated the market, they were no longer the novelty that people could only get on their vacation to the West. Today the price of is 1/10th of the original offering price. This one stock could cover several lessons of stock market investing for dummies.

Lesson number one of stock market investing for dummies from Krispie Kreme. Even though you love the product, if it’s a one trick dog, stay away from it. There will probably not be many innovations to the donut unless someone finds a way to make it a healthy coronary disease fighter and at this writing, that isn’t on the horizon. Although, the concept sounds like a delightful idea. People often go crazy when new trendy stock comes out and the IPO’s sell high only to drop later. Look at the type of product and estimate if the demand will increase or new products are on the horizon.

Lesson number two of stock market investing for dummies from the Krispie Kreme example is don’t buy and hold unless you get a bargain. If you bought the stock at $40, and saw it drop as boxes of the donuts hit every grocery store in America, take the short-term loss and dump it. You probably became a little less excited every time you bought another box and began to realize that the attraction for these donuts came from the short supply. Financial investing requires you to make hard decisions sometimes. These decisions sometimes require you to take a loss and salvage the money that you have.

Investing money doesn’t require a lot of market knowledge and stock market investing for dummies simply put is investing strategies designed for ways you want to invest. If you are a buy and hold person, select companies that produce products that maintain a level of consumption and don’t buy when it’s trendy, wait until the price drops. If investing money means buying and selling rapidly to you, learn the patterns of the stock you want to buy or find out everything about the company that you can and attempt to invest before they put out a new product, then sell it when the price goes up.

Stock market investing for dummies is nothing more than deciding what type of investing you want to do, long-term or short-term, and then paying attention to those companies or the way the stock moves.

Read the oldest stock market wisdom from the world renowned physicist.

This revelation had me surprised too. I was idly flipping through my old physics textbooks yesterday when it suddenly struck me. I was amazed to realize that Sir Issac Newton’s laws of physics points to so many profound and important rules in the stock markets today.

So, here we are… the physics of the stock markets.

Newton’s First Law of Trading

“A Stock at rest tends to stay at rest and a Trending Stock tends to stay in trend unless acted upon by an equal and opposite reaction or an unbalanced force.”

This law teaches us the same thing the old commodity traders will… that the trend is your friend. If a stock is trending sideways, it tends to stay sideways until a powerful enough market force takes it out of its trend. If a stock is trending up or downwards, it will tend to stay moving up or downwards until drastic changes happen to the company or the market at large creating an “equal and opposite reaction”. We should therefore always trade in the direction of a trend and always be vigilant for signs of an “equal and opposite reaction” or the “unbalanced force”. Such a force may take the form of a drastic change in the market sentiment at large or drastic change in the performance of the specific company in question.

Newton’s Second Law of Trading

“The acceleration of a stock as produced by a market consensus is directly proportional to the magnitude of that consensus, in the same direction as the consensus, and inversely proportional to the mass of the stock.”

This law teaches us that a stock moves up or down into a trend due to a force created by market consensus. How much a stock moves up or down that trend is determined by the magnitude of the market consensus and how “massive” a stock is. By “massive” we are talking about the price of a stock. The more expensive a stock is, the more well established the company has been and the lesser in percentage you will make out of the same move in absolute dollar versus a smaller, less massive stock.

The force of the market consensus is directly proportionate to the event that spurred it. If a company produces a breakthrough product on a worldwide patent, it creates an extremely strong market consensus that is likely to take a stock very far. If a company merely scores a marginally higher earning this quarter, it is unlikely to produce a market consensus that will go very far.

Newton teaches us to not only look at what the news is but also how well established the company is in order to determine how much momentum it will produce in a given trend. The same breakthrough that drives a small company’s shares up by hundreds of percentage points may perhaps move a big company’s shares only by a fraction of that percentage.

Newton’s Third Law of Trading

“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

No need to explain this one in much detail, do I?

For every buying or selling, there must be an equal amount of buyers or sellers on the other side. The stock market is a zero sum game. For every buyer, there must be a seller and for every seller, there must be a buyer. The real question is, who is profiting from each of their buying and selling. There is really no such thing as more buyers today than sellers or vice versa. Every trader needs to understand that you can be on the wrong side of the table at anytime and only a sensible portfolio management system can help you go in the long run.

I have traded actively in the stock markets for over a decade and survived with ancient wisdom such as what you have read here. There is indeed wisdom to be found in every corner of our life and if we care to look carefully, we will never be in a lack of guidance.

The stock market should present you with a wide variety of NEW hot stocks in 2009. Many of them are going to be new technology stocks that come from the nanotech, biotech, financial, energy, healthcare & communications sectors.

Most of them might seem promising, but the truth is that a good number of these trading & investing opportunities could be extremely risky, while others are simply not as good as they look. That’s why it’s very important to know how to choose among the best especially if you want to day trade them.

When you know how to pick and approach the best hot stock trading opportunities, you are able to generate a consistent and respectable amount of money in a very short period of time.

Experienced day traders recognize that trading hot stocks on momentum can be the fastest way to make money in the stock market, especially on uncertain times like these.

You don’t necessarily have to trade momentum hot stocks all the time. But you can learn how to take advantage of them when you encounter the best opportunities for going long or for shorting them to make money when they are poised to fall down.

If You decide to day trade stocks just keep always in mind that for a trader to survive and be consistently profitable, its necessary to keep things as simple as possible. To much confusion and technical indicators will most of the time make you slow in your decisions and froze you up when a good opportunity is right in front of your screen.

In the end, stock market day trading is all about picking the best daily stock opportunities and following your buy and sell signals with ease and simplicity. Once you learn to master your trading decisions, you can aspire to produce consistent profitable results.
